Authors Game

This is a game for 4 to 6 players. If the players are young, then play with 3 players to make it much more simple.

A simple version of this game for younger children is "FISH."

The object of the game is to win by becoming the player who completes the most books.

1. The dealer deals the cards face down, one at a time, until all cards are dealt. They may not come out even, which is fine.

2. Each player in turn asks any other player for a specific card, naming the player asked, the rank, and the suit (Brenden, give me a queen of hearts). If the asked player has the card, he must deliver it face up on the table. The asker must have at least one card of the rank he asks for and may not ask for a card he holds (in other words, if he has a 7 of hearts in his hand, he cannot ask for a 7 of hearts).

3. A player's turn continues as long as the player asked has the card asked for. When an asked player refuses, his turn ends. The turn to play passes to the left.

4. When a player completes a book (or is dealt one), he immediately shows it, then turns it down on the table in front of him.
